Wickenburg, "Arizona's most Western community," is a growing town with many projects and developments either planned or underway. Growth is managed according to a "master plan" to ensure that the town retains it Western ambience.
   
Hiking, horseback riding, Jeeping and rodeos are major components here. You can also check out the high Sonoran Desert, Lake Pleasant and the 18-hole Rancho de los Caballeros Golf Club which is ranked as one of the top 5 in the state by "Golf Digest," as well as one of the top 75 resort courses in the entire United States. It has been described as "serene but potentially lethal." Wickenburg Country Club's new 18-hole course has been recently completed. The Nature Conservancy's Hassayampa River Preserve encompasses one of the best remaining examples of the rarest forest type in North America: the Fremont Cottonwood-Willow riparian forest. It's home to an abundance of wildlife. The perennially flowing Hassayampa River and the spring-fed Palm Lake supply water to the preserve. Both the upper Hassayampa and Box Canyon are bird watcher's paradises with excellent bird watching all year long. Experts have recorded over 280 bird species there!

Interesting things to see and do in Wickenburg include Historical Walking Tour, Old 761 Santa Fe Steam Locomotive, Wishing Well of "Hassayamper" legend, Desert Caballeros Western Museum and Museum Park - considered one of the best museums in Arizona, and Jail Tree - a 200-year-old mesquite tree that once served as the town jail.
        
Wickenburg has numerous special events throughout the year, including Gold Rush Days, always the second full weekend in February; Desert Caballeros Horse Ride, a week-long ride attracting people from all over the world; Fourth of July Celebration; Fiesta September; Wickenburg Fly-In; Blue Grass Festival; Cowboy Poetry Gathering and Christmas Light Parade.
